A private Golden Triangle package from Delhi usually covers a chauffeur-driven air-conditioned car, a licensed guide in each city, hotels arranged by category, and entry tickets to the monuments you visit. Flights, personal spending and some meals are normally outside it. Always ask for the inclusions in writing before you compare packages.
Search for Golden Triangle tour packages from Delhi and you will find dozens of listings that look alike and read very differently once you open them. The route is the same: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, roughly a 720 to 750 kilometre loop by road. What changes is who you travel with, where you sleep, and what is actually covered.
This page explains what a private package normally includes, what it usually leaves out, and which questions to ask so that two quotes can be compared fairly. We do not list rates here. Rates are on request, because they depend on the number of days, the hotel category and the size of your group.
What a private Golden Triangle package includes
A private package means the vehicle, the driver and the guides are yours alone. You are not placed with other travellers, and the day is built around your pace rather than a fixed coach schedule.
Most private packages from Delhi include the following. A chauffeur-driven, air-conditioned car for the whole journey, with the driver staying with you from the first morning to the last drop. A licensed local guide in each city, so Delhi, Agra and Jaipur each have someone who knows that city. Hotels arranged by category, for example five-star or heritage palace, with breakfast. Entry tickets to the monuments on your plan, arranged for you so you do not queue at the counter. Airport or station pick-up and drop in Delhi.
The driver is more than a person at the wheel. A good chauffeur knows where to park near each monument, which gate is quietest, and when a stretch of road is best avoided. He also handles the small things, such as cold water in the car and a calm hand when traffic gets heavy in Delhi.
Guides are licensed and local to each city. That matters because the guide in Agra understands the Taj Mahal and the Mughal story, while the guide in Jaipur knows the Rajput forts and the old bazaars. Having a different specialist in each city is usually better than one guide for the whole route.
What is usually not included
Honest packages also say what they leave out. International and domestic flights are not part of a road package, and this applies to ours as well. Visas, travel insurance and tips are yours to arrange. Lunches and dinners are often left open so you can eat where you like, although some plans include selected meals. Charges for cameras at certain monuments, optional extras you add on the day, and personal shopping are normally separate.
Read the line about tickets carefully. Some packages include entry to every monument, others include only the Taj Mahal, and a few leave all entries to you. Ask which monuments are covered and whether the guide is arranged for each one.
Think also about the days around the journey. If you land late and want a rest day in Delhi, or you plan to stay on after Jaipur, those nights can be added to the plan, but they are separate from the core loop. Say so early and we will build them in, so the arrival and the departure are both smooth.
Choosing the number of days
Packages are usually sold as 3, 4, 5 or 6 days, with longer versions that add Udaipur, Varanasi or a tiger reserve. Three days is possible but fast, with long drives on both of the first two days. Four or five days gives each city a proper morning and leaves room for a slow breakfast.
If you are unsure, read our guide on how many days to allow for the Golden Triangle. The honest answer depends on how much you enjoy being in a car and how much you want to see inside each place.
A useful rule is to count the nights in each city rather than the total days. One night in Delhi, one in Agra and one in Jaipur makes a short loop. Two nights in Agra or two in Jaipur turns it into a more relaxed journey. Packages that look shorter on paper often hide an early departure or a late return, so read the arrival and departure times as well.
Hotel category: what you are really choosing
Most packages offer two broad styles. Five-star hotels are modern, predictable and well suited to travellers who value a quiet room and familiar service. Heritage palaces are older buildings, often former royal or noble homes, with more character and sometimes smaller room counts.
We arrange hotels by category rather than printing a fixed list. This lets the family team match a property to your dates and the way you like to travel. Tell us which style you prefer, and we will plan around it.
Location matters as much as category. In Agra, a hotel closer to the Taj Mahal gate saves time on a sunrise morning. In Jaipur, a heritage palace on the edge of the city feels quiet but adds a little driving. In Delhi, the airport is far from the old quarter, so we think about where you will spend most of your time. Our page on hotel categories explains the differences in more detail.
How a private package differs from a group tour
A group tour fixes the departure date, the hotel and the timing of each stop. A private package lets you leave later after a long flight, stay longer at the Taj Mahal, skip a stop you do not care about, or add a market you heard about from a friend.
Group tours can suit travellers who want company and a simple structure. Private suits couples, families, small groups of friends and anyone who values flexibility. We compare the two in more detail in our page on private driver versus group tour.
There is also the matter of responsibility. On a private plan, one family team plans the days, speaks to you in advance and stays reachable during the trip. If a flight is delayed or you feel unwell, the plan bends. On a fixed departure, the group usually moves on.
How to compare two package quotes fairly
Put the quotes side by side and check five things. The vehicle type and whether it is air-conditioned for the entire trip. Whether the driver and guide are included every day. The hotel category and the number of nights in each city. Which monument tickets are covered. And what happens if your flight is delayed or your plans change.
A very short quote with few details is not always a better deal. It often means the details have been left out. Ask for a day-by-day plan in writing, and keep it for reference during the trip.
Also ask how the team can be reached during the journey, and who handles a problem if the driver or the car needs to change. Reliable operators answer these questions plainly. If a reply is vague, treat it as information.
How planning works with us
You tell us your dates, group size and hotel preference. The family team in Agra builds a day-by-day plan, adjusts it with you, and sends the rates once the shape is settled. No payment is taken until your plan is confirmed. If a closed day such as the Friday closure of the Taj Mahal falls inside your dates, we plan around it from the start.
