Four days with an arrival day in Delhi, then Agra, Jaipur and the drive back. The extra day lets you meet Delhi's Mughal and colonial sights before the road trip begins, so the long drives do not start the moment you land. Each city has a licensed guide and you keep the same car and driver throughout.

Day by day
How the days go
Day1
Delhi
Your driver and guide meet you on arrival and you start in New Delhi.
The first stop is Humayun's Tomb, the garden tomb that came before the Taj and is quietest in the morning.
From there the car passes India Gate and the government avenues, then moves into Old Delhi.
Here the plan is the Jama Masjid and a short walk through Chandni Chowk, where lanes of spice, silver and paper shops lead to street snacks if you wish to try them.
The pace is easy: Delhi's traffic is slow and we leave space for lunch and a rest before dinner.
If you land late at night, the plan shifts to begin after breakfast.
Wear closed shoes and cover shoulders and knees for the mosque, and carry a scarf.
Red Fort is closed on Mondays, so on those days we swap it for another sight.
Day2
Delhi to Agra
Drive: roughly three to four hours
After breakfast the car leaves Delhi on the Yamuna Expressway for the drive to Agra, which takes roughly three to four hours.
A coffee stop at the midpoint helps.
You arrive around lunchtime and rest at the hotel.
In the afternoon your guide takes you to the Taj Mahal, where the light softens as the sun drops and the crowds thin toward closing.
Walk the long approach, spend time on the platform and look at the inlay up close.
Then continue to Agra Fort for the evening view back toward the Taj, and the car brings you to the hotel for dinner.
If you prefer a sunrise visit, tell us and we adjust the order of the day.
Remember that the Taj is closed on Fridays, so we plan around your dates.
Day3
Agra to Jaipur
Drive: roughly five hours
Today is the longest drive, roughly five hours, so you leave after breakfast.
The first stop is Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's red sandstone city, where the guide shows the Panch Mahal, the courtyard of the Diwan-i-Khas and the great Jama Masjid.
Plan about ninety minutes.
After that, the road runs west into Rajasthan, and lunch makes sense at a roadside restaurant used to travellers.
Your driver will take a short break at the state border where the landscape turns drier and the villages show painted walls.
You reach Jaipur by late afternoon.
If energy allows, a short drive past the Hawa Mahal and a walk through a bazaar near Johari Bazaar make a good evening.
Otherwise, rest and dine at the hotel.
Day4
Jaipur to Delhi
Drive: roughly five to six hours
Start early at Amber Fort, when the courtyards are calm and the light on the walls is warm.
Your guide leads you through the Ganesh Pol and the Sheesh Mahal, and you can add a short stop at the Jal Mahal on the way back to town.
Then the car takes you to the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar, where the giant sundials still measure time to the second.
Lunch is relaxed in the old city, and then the drive to Delhi begins, roughly five to six hours depending on traffic.
Your driver takes you to the airport or your hotel.
If you have an evening flight, we can time the day so you are not rushed.
Carry water in the car and wear a hat for Amber.
Note. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so the order of days may shift. December and January fog can flatten a sunrise.
Practical
Good to know
Day one is a gentle Delhi introduction, so the long drives begin on day two and three.
The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays and Red Fort on Mondays; we shape the order around your dates.
The Agra to Jaipur drive is the longest, roughly five hours with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri.
Winter mornings can be foggy, which slows the expressway and softens the Taj view.

Questions
Good to know
What does the extra day add compared with the three day plan?
It gives you a full day in Delhi with a guide, so you see Humayun's Tomb, India Gate and Old Delhi before the drives start. It also lets you recover from a long flight.
Can we see the Taj at sunrise on this journey?
Yes. We can arrange a sunrise visit on day three instead of the afternoon, which shifts the Fatehpur Sikri stop and the drive by a little. Tell us your preference when we plan.
Is the Friday closure a problem?
Only if day two falls on a Friday. In that case we reorder the days or add a night so you can visit the Taj on another day.
Which season suits this plan best?
October to March is the most comfortable. April to June is hot, so we start early and rest in the middle of the day. The monsoon brings green hills and less crowding.
