Best Agra Honeymoon Tour

By traveller
Our pick

The best Agra honeymoon tour is our Golden Triangle honeymoon: six days through Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with your own car, driver and licensed guide, from $365 per person, two travellers sharing. Late starts and free evenings are built in. For Agra alone, Agra in two days is the quiet option.

A honeymoon in Agra asks for different things from an ordinary sightseeing trip: a later start, private time at the Taj Mahal, evenings with nothing scheduled and a car that waits for you instead of a coach that does not. This page is for newlyweds who want Agra to be a high point of the trip, not a rushed stop between flights.

We weighed each journey on pace, privacy and how well it spreads out the early starts. Every pick uses your own air-conditioned car and driver and a licensed guide, with hotels arranged by category only. Extras such as a surprise dinner can be discussed when we plan, but we do not promise them here, and flights are not included.

1. Best overall

Golden Triangle honeymoon

Golden Triangle honeymoon
From $365 per person
  • 6 days / 5 nights
  • Delhi · Agra · Jaipur
  • Own car and driver, licensed guide

Golden Triangle honeymoon runs six days from Delhi through Agra to Jaipur, with the pace deliberately softened. The first day is kept light after the flight, and the Delhi day starts at ten rather than eight. In Agra your first view of the Taj is from Mehtab Bagh at sunset, quiet and with few people, and the visit itself follows at first light. The drive to Agra is roughly four hours, and Jaipur comes next by way of Fatehpur Sikri.

It suits couples who want Agra plus one more city without a punishing schedule. You travel with your own car and driver and a licensed guide in each city, staying in five-star or heritage hotels arranged by category. From $365 per person, two travellers sharing. The honest limit is the road: travel days include drives of four to six hours, and the Taj sunrise still means an early morning.

Best for: Newlyweds who want Agra and Jaipur together, with the pace softened and evenings left free.

Worth knowing: The Taj is closed on Fridays and fog in December and January can flatten the sunrise, so your dates matter.

2. Best for Agra only

Agra in two days

Agra in two days
From $150 per person
  • 2 days / 1 nights
  • Agra
  • Own car and driver, licensed guide

Agra in two days keeps the whole trip in one city. The first day covers Agra Fort, the small inlaid tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah and sunset at Mehtab Bagh, which looks across the river to the Taj. The second morning begins before dawn at the Taj Mahal, with around two hours inside, then breakfast, and later Fatehpur Sikri, roughly an hour away, or the nearer Sikandra if you want a shorter day, finished with a long lunch.

It suits couples who want a calm stay with no packing every night and no long transfers between cities. You have your own car and a licensed guide, with two nights in a hotel of your chosen category. From $150 per person, two sharing. It covers Agra only, so getting here from Delhi is separate unless you ask us to collect you, and a Friday closure at the Taj reorders the days.

Best for: Couples who want a short, calm stay in one city with the Taj at sunrise and time to rest.

Worth knowing: It covers Agra only, and the dawn start on day two is early even on a honeymoon.

3. Best short break from Delhi

Taj Mahal overnight from Delhi

Taj Mahal overnight from Delhi
From $150 per person
  • 2 days / 1 nights
  • Delhi · Agra
  • Own car and driver, licensed guide

Taj Mahal overnight from Delhi is the shortest break that still lets the Taj be seen properly. You leave Delhi around nine and the expressway takes roughly three and a half to four hours. The afternoon goes to Agra Fort and Itimad-ud-Daulah, with sunset at Mehtab Bagh if you wish. Next morning you are at the Taj gate before sunrise for about two hours, then breakfast, a slow check-out and the drive back, reaching Delhi by mid afternoon.

It suits couples already based in Delhi, or with a few spare days around a wedding celebration, who want one special night somewhere else. The car, driver and Agra guide are yours alone, and the hotel is arranged as five-star or heritage. From $150 per person, two sharing. The limit is time: the road takes a good part of each day, and day two must not fall on a Friday.

Best for: Couples already in Delhi who want one night in Agra and the Taj at sunrise without a long commitment.

Worth knowing: The drive from Delhi takes a few hours each way, and the second morning cannot fall on a Friday.

4. Best for a longer honeymoon

Golden Triangle with Udaipur

Golden Triangle with Udaipur
From $460 per person
  • 8 days / 7 nights
  • Delhi · Agra · Jaipur · Udaipur
  • Own car and driver, licensed guide

Golden Triangle with Udaipur adds the lake city to the classic route, and it is the version where the honeymoon turns into a holiday by the end. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur come first, with the Taj at sunrise and Amber Fort the morning after. Then comes a long drive of roughly six to seven hours to Udaipur, where two nights leave room for the City Palace, a boat on Lake Pichola near sunset and one open day in the old town.

It suits couples with about eight days who want forts first and water afterwards. You keep one car and driver and have a local guide in each city, with hotels arranged by category. From $460 per person, two sharing. The honest limit is the Jaipur to Udaipur day, the longest drive of the journey, and flights home from Udaipur are not included, so share your schedule with us early.

Best for: Couples with around eight days who want palaces and a lakeside finish after the forts and tombs of the north.

Worth knowing: The Jaipur to Udaipur drive of roughly six to seven hours is long, and flights home are not included.

5. Best for a heritage stay

Heritage palace journey

Heritage palace journey
From $460 per person
  • 8 days / 7 nights
  • Delhi · Samode · Jaipur · Agra
  • Own car and driver, licensed guide

Heritage palace journey is eight days through Delhi, Samode, Jaipur and Agra, built so that the hotels are part of the sightseeing. After a Delhi day of Humayun's Tomb and Old Delhi, the car drives roughly six hours to Samode, a small village of painted houses north of Jaipur, where you have an evening and a slow morning. Jaipur follows with Amber Fort, then Agra, where the Taj is visited at first light.

It suits couples who care more about atmosphere than about ticking off cities, and who like the idea of heritage properties arranged by category. You have your own car and driver and a licensed guide in each city. From $460 per person, two sharing. Agra is the last stop rather than the focus, and Samode is quiet, so evening entertainment there is minimal. Tell us about any mobility needs, since rooms in heritage properties vary in layout and size.

Best for: Couples who want old-world atmosphere and heritage stays more than a big-city itinerary.

Worth knowing: Agra comes at the end rather than being the focus, and Samode is a small village with few evening options.

How to choose

How to choose between these

  • Choose Golden Triangle honeymoon if you want the classic six-day route at a softened pace, with a late start in Delhi and a first look at the Taj from Mehtab Bagh at sunset.
  • Choose Agra in two days if you would rather stay in one city, see the Taj at sunrise and spend the rest of the time resting, with Fatehpur Sikri or Sikandra as an easy extra.
  • Choose the Taj Mahal overnight from Delhi if you are already based in the capital and want one special night in Agra without committing more than two days.
  • Choose Golden Triangle with Udaipur or the heritage palace journey if you have a week or more and want lakes, palaces or village calm after the forts and tombs of the north.
  • Plan around the calendar: the Taj is closed on Fridays, December and January fog can flatten a sunrise, and flights between cities or home are not included in any of these journeys.
Questions

People also ask

What is the best Agra honeymoon tour?
Our Golden Triangle honeymoon is the best fit for most couples, from $365 per person for two travellers sharing. It runs six days through Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with your own car, driver and licensed guide, late starts where possible and evenings kept free. If you want Agra alone, Agra in two days is the calmer option, and either can be shaped to your dates when we plan.
How many days do we need in Agra?
Two nights is comfortable for a honeymoon, and that is what Agra in two days gives you, from $150 per person. The first day is Agra Fort, Itimad-ud-Daulah and a sunset at Mehtab Bagh. The second morning is the Taj at sunrise, followed by a long lunch. One night works if you are short of time, as in the Taj Mahal overnight from Delhi.
Is the honeymoon tour private?
Yes. You travel in your own air-conditioned car with a driver who stays with you throughout, and a licensed guide meets you in each city. There is no shared coach and no group timetable, so start times, breakfast and how long you linger at each place are yours to set. Hotels are arranged by category, and we confirm the details with you when we plan.
Can we add a private dinner or surprise?
Possibly. A special dinner, flowers or an anniversary surprise can be discussed when we plan, but we do not promise a specific extra in advance and we will tell you plainly what the team can and cannot arrange. Mention that it is your honeymoon when you get in touch, so the days can be paced and the hotels chosen with that in mind.
When is the best time for a honeymoon in Agra?
October to March is the most comfortable season, with cooler days that suit long visits to the Taj and the forts. December and January can bring fog, which sometimes flattens a sunrise, so we keep those mornings flexible. Summer is hot, and the plan then places sightseeing early in the day and keeps the afternoon for rest at the hotel.
Can we add Udaipur or Rajasthan?
Yes. Golden Triangle with Udaipur, from $460 per person, adds two nights by Lake Pichola after Jaipur, and the heritage palace journey brings in Samode. Longer Rajasthan routes can be discussed when we plan. The drive from Jaipur to Udaipur is roughly six to seven hours, so we start early and break it with a proper lunch stop.
Are flights included?
No. Flights between cities or to and from India are not included in any of these journeys. Tell us your arrival and departure times when we plan, and your driver will track the flight and meet you at arrivals. On the last day we set the departure time from Jaipur or Agra backwards from your flight, leaving a generous buffer for traffic.
How do we book?
Start by sharing your dates, where you are flying in and out, and that it is a honeymoon. The family team replies with a plan and final rates for your dates, and we check the Taj closure on Fridays before anything is fixed. No payment is taken until your plan is confirmed, and you can change the pace or the hotel category at that stage.
