How the days go
Day1
Agra Fort, the riverside tomb and sunset
Your driver and guide meet you in the morning, once you have settled into the hotel.
The first visit is Agra Fort, where you walk through red sandstone gateways, courtyards and marble halls to a balcony facing the river.
Lunch follows at a restaurant of your choice, with time to rest through the heat of the day.
In the afternoon the car crosses to Itimad-ud-Daulah, a small marble tomb with delicate inlay and a calm garden on the Yamuna.
The day ends at Mehtab Bagh, across the river from the Taj, in the last hour before sunset.
Your guide explains what you are looking at while the light softens.
Wear comfortable shoes for the fort, which involves ramps and stone steps, and bring water and a hat in the warmer months.
The pace is steady, and you are free to skip a stop if you would rather linger.
Day2
Taj Mahal at sunrise and Fatehpur Sikri
You leave the hotel before dawn so that you reach the Taj Mahal as it opens, when the marble is cool and the crowds are thinner.
Allow around two hours with your guide, then return to the hotel for breakfast.
Winter fog can flatten the sunrise, and we say so honestly.
Later the car drives to Fatehpur Sikri, roughly an hour from Agra, or to Sikandra if you prefer a shorter day, and your guide walks you through the red sandstone courtyards.
A long lunch follows before the car brings you back, or onward to Delhi if you ask.
The Taj is closed on Fridays, so on that day we shift the order of the sights.
Allow a late afternoon for rest at the hotel before dinner, which can be arranged to suit you.
Dress modestly, with shoulders and knees covered.
Note. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so the order of days may shift. December and January fog can flatten a sunrise.

Questions
Good to know
Is two days too long for Agra?
Not if you like an unhurried pace. Two days lets you see the Taj at sunrise, spread the sights over two days and keep a long lunch in the middle.
What happens if I arrive on a Friday?
The Taj is closed that day, so we move the Taj morning to the next day and reorder the other visits. We confirm the order with you when we plan.
Can you collect me from Delhi?
Yes, on request. The drive to Agra takes a few hours, and we can build the journey around it. Alternatively you can arrive in Agra on your own.
Will the sunrise be clear?
Often, but not always. Winter fog can hide the view, and we cannot control the weather. If the morning is poor, your guide still takes you through the monument.
