Day by day
How the days go
Day1
Delhi to the Taj and back
Drive: four hours
Your driver collects you from your Delhi hotel early, usually around six, so the expressway is quiet and you reach Agra before the heat builds.
Expect roughly three and a half to four hours on the road, with one comfortable break for tea about halfway.
Your Agra guide joins you at the Taj Mahal gate and walks you through the gardens, the marble platform and the inlay work, explaining how the building was planned and why the light changes on the stone through the morning.
Allow a generous two hours here and wear light clothing and shoes that slip off easily.
After a relaxed lunch, the car takes you to Agra Fort, where red sandstone halls and the Musamman Burj give a view along the river to the Taj.
If time and energy allow, a short stop at Itimad-ud-Daulah, the small marble tomb on the riverbank, fits in before you head back.
You are in Delhi again by late evening, and the driver takes you to your hotel or onward to the airport.
The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so this journey is planned for any other day of the week.
Note. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so the order of days may shift. December and January fog can flatten a sunrise.

Questions
Good to know
How long is the drive from Delhi to Agra?
Roughly three and a half to four hours each way on the expressway, depending on traffic leaving Delhi. We build in a break and keep the day paced so it does not feel rushed.
Can I do this trip on a Friday?
No, the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays. We would suggest moving the trip to another day, since the visit is built around the Taj.
Is one day enough to see Agra?
It is enough for the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort at a calm pace, which is what most guests want from a day trip. If you want sunrise or more time, an overnight stay is kinder.
Can we leave later in the morning?
Yes, though an earlier start gives cooler hours at the Taj and a lighter road. Tell us your preference when we plan and we will adjust the day.
