Day by day
How the days go
Day1
Train to Agra and the Taj
You board the Gatimaan Express at Hazrat Nizamuddin station in Delhi in the early morning.
The ride to Agra Cantt takes roughly 100 minutes, and the carriage is a calm place for tea and a first look at the countryside.
Your driver and guide meet you as you step off the train and walk you to the car, so there is no hunting for a taxi.
The first stop is the Taj Mahal, while the marble is still cool.
Your guide leads you through the gateway and gardens and explains the inlay and the story behind the tomb.
Allow around two hours there.
Day2
Agra Fort, lunch and the return
From the Taj the car drives a short way to Agra Fort, where you walk through red sandstone courtyards and marble halls to a balcony facing the river.
Lunch follows at a restaurant chosen to suit your tastes, with time to sit and rest.
After a final stop if energy allows, such as the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, the car returns you to Agra Cantt for the evening train to Delhi.
We check the current timetable when we plan, because train times change from season to season.
The train does not run on Fridays, and the Taj is closed that day, so this journey is for the other six days.
Note. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so the order of days may shift. December and January fog can flatten a sunrise.

Questions
Good to know
Is the train comfortable enough for a day trip?
It is a fast daytime service with reserved seating and a short journey of roughly 100 minutes each way. Most guests find it easier than a long road transfer, especially for the early start.
What happens if the train is delayed?
Your driver and guide track the arrival and wait for you in Agra, so a late train simply shortens the schedule. We build a buffer before the evening departure, and we will tell you honestly if a delay makes a sight too tight.
Can I travel on a Friday?
No. The Gatimaan Express does not run on Fridays, and the Taj Mahal is closed to visitors that day. If Friday is your only free day, a road journey built around Agra Fort and other sights is a better fit.
Who books the train tickets?
You can book them yourself, or we can arrange them when we plan the day. Either way the fares are separate from the journey, and we confirm the current timetable before you travel.
