Day by day
How the days go
Day1
Arrive in Delhi
Your driver meets you at the airport holding a name board, helps with luggage and takes you to your hotel.
For first-time visitors, the arrival is the part people worry about most, so we keep it simple: a car, a driver and a clear plan.
Many flights land at night, in which case you simply check in and sleep.
If you arrive in the day, a short drive to Lodhi Gardens gives you your first look at the city.
We suggest drinking bottled water, eating at the hotel on the first night and keeping cash small.
Send your flight details when we plan, and the driver will track the flight and wait if it is late.
Day2
Delhi
Your guide joins you after breakfast and spends the morning at Humayun's Tomb, the garden tomb in red sandstone that helps you understand the Taj.
The car then goes through New Delhi, past India Gate and the government buildings, and on to the Qutub Minar.
After lunch you drive to Old Delhi and walk through the Jama Masjid courtyard and Chandni Chowk.
It can feel intense for a first visit, with crowds, smells and noise, so the guide sets the pace and you can stop whenever you like.
The Red Fort is closed on Mondays.
Cover shoulders and knees for the mosque, and wear shoes you can slip off easily.
By late afternoon you return to the hotel to rest.
Day3
Delhi to Agra
Drive: roughly three to four hours
After breakfast you leave Delhi on the Yamuna Expressway for Agra, roughly three to four hours.
The road is smooth and you will see how cars, trucks and scooters share India's roads.
A coffee stop near the midpoint is easy.
You arrive in Agra at lunchtime and rest.
In the afternoon the guide takes you to the Taj Mahal, where the light softens and the marble turns warm, and explains the story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
Take your time on the platform.
Then you can visit Agra Fort or Mehtab Bagh, depending on the light.
If you prefer a sunrise visit, we can arrange it for the next morning before the drive.
The Taj is closed on Fridays.
Day4
Agra to Jaipur
Drive: roughly five hours
Today is the longest drive, roughly five hours, so you leave after breakfast.
If you chose a sunrise Taj visit, this day begins before dawn and the road starts after breakfast.
The first stop is Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's abandoned capital, where the guide shows the main halls and the mosque courtyard in about ninety minutes.
Lunch is on the road, and the driver knows places used to travellers.
Then the road turns west into Rajasthan, and the scenery changes to dry fields and painted villages.
You reach Jaipur in the late afternoon.
After a rest, you can drive past the Hawa Mahal and see the old city bazaars at dusk.
Keep dinner simple and sleep well.
Day5
Jaipur to Delhi
Drive: roughly five to six hours
Start early at Amber Fort, when the courtyards are calm.
Your guide takes you through the Sun Gate and the Sheesh Mahal and explains how the Rajput kings lived here.
On the way back, the car stops at Jal Mahal for a photo.
Then you visit the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar, the open-air observatory, before a relaxed lunch.
After lunch, the drive to Delhi begins, roughly five to six hours depending on traffic.
Your driver takes you to the airport or your Delhi hotel.
Tell us your flight time when we plan, so we can leave Jaipur with a safe buffer.
Carry water, and let the driver know when you want a break.
Note. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so the order of days may shift. December and January fog can flatten a sunrise.

Questions
Good to know
Is this journey suitable if I have never visited India?
Yes, it is designed for that. You travel with a driver and a licensed guide, and we plan arrival, hotels and timing before you leave. You do not need to book anything on the ground.
What should I expect from the crowds and noise?
Delhi and the old city bazaars are busy and loud. The guide sets a calm pace, chooses quieter hours where possible and you can step out of any busy area at any time.
Is it safe to eat and drink?
Most guests eat at their hotels and well-known restaurants, drink bottled water and avoid raw salads at the start. Your guide and driver can suggest places that suit your stomach.
Can I swap the sunrise for a later Taj visit?
Yes. Many first-timers prefer a later visit, which is easier on the body but busier. We discuss the choice when we plan.

Tell us when you are travelling.
A short message is enough. We will come back with a plan, personally.
