  • A guide who tells the stories of the monuments in a way children follow
Day by day

How the days go

Day1

The Taj Mahal in the morning

Your driver and guide collect the family after breakfast, around eight or a little earlier.

  • The Taj Mahal comes first, while the marble is cool and the crowds are lighter.
  • The walk from the gate to the platform is gentle but takes time, so we move in short blocks with stops for water and photographs.
  • Your guide tells the story of the emperor and his queen as a tale rather than a lecture, and points out small things for children to find in the inlay.
  • Shoe covers or bare feet are needed on the platform.
  • Allow around two hours, less with very young children.
Day2

Rest, Agra Fort and a craft stop

Lunch comes early and long, or the family returns to the hotel for a rest while the sun is at its hardest.

  • The car stays with you, so there is no waiting in the heat.
  • Later in the afternoon the car goes to Agra Fort, where the guide picks a few courtyards, a balcony view back to the Taj and the best spots for stories of kings and soldiers, rather than marching you through every hall.
  • A craft stop follows, where a workshop shows how a local craft is made and you are under no obligation to buy.
  • Snacks and drinks are easy to arrange on the way.
  • Car seats must be requested well in advance and cannot be guaranteed.
  • The Taj is closed on Fridays, and the plan shifts on that day.

Note. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so the order of days may shift. December and January fog can flatten a sunrise.

Practical

Good to know

  • Car seats are available only if requested well ahead, and we cannot guarantee them, so please ask early.
  • Summer afternoons are very hot; the midday rest is part of the plan, not an extra.
  • Strollers are awkward on steps and uneven ground at the monuments, so a carrier can be easier for infants.
  • The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, and winter fog can hide it in the early morning.

Questions

Good to know

Can we get a car seat for a small child?
We can try, but only if you tell us well before the day, and we cannot guarantee one. If it matters, please bring your own folding seat or booster.
Is the day too long for young children?
It is built around short walks, a long midday break and an early finish, and you can drop the Fort if everyone is tired. Your guide and driver adjust the pace to the youngest member of the family.
What if the children get hungry or fussy?
The car carries water, and we plan snack stops between the sights. Tell your guide about any food preferences or allergies in advance so that lunch suits everyone.
Does the plan change on a Friday?
Yes. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so we would shift the Taj to another day and fill the time with Agra Fort, a garden and the craft stop.
